Washington House Profile
This stately home, which is now divided into apartments, has been owned by the very educated through many generations. Originally occupied by Valentine Baker, an ice dealer and his bookkeeper wife, Sarah according to the 1910 Census, this house has a signature horse hitching post that reads "Knott". Perhaps a gift from it's next owner's Father-in-Law, Ananias Knott, the first Physician in Monticello, IL. It then gained the addition of a grocery store but it's next owners, Frank Wilson and his family.
